SAMPLE ITINERARY

Phuket is Thailand's biggest island surrounded by the Andaman Sea. The lush tropical rainforest and mostly mountainous terrain open into the sea through its golden sand beaches. In Old Phuket town, Sino-Portuguese style shophouses line the streets of what was once a port trading city. The flavors of Phuket like other regions of Thailand have their own flair with influences from Chinese and Malay cuisine. The highlight, though, is the kind genuine friendliness and smiles of the local people.

Day 1

Tuesday

Arrive at the airport and be greeted and transported to the JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa on Mai Kao beach. Settle in to your luxurious room and ocean front property.

Welcome dinner is at Andaman Grill at the resort.

Day 2

Wednesday

Breakfast is at the resort. Melt the jet lag away with a one hour massage at the Spa on property. The day is at your leisure so feel free to join the morning Gentle Yoga or the mid morning Aqua Tai Chi at the North Pool and enjoy the many amenities on resort ground.

Day 3

Breakfast is at the resort. Today's private excursion is a visit to Phang Nga Bay. There are 42 islands in the National Park and this cruise gives the best view and experience of this fascinating natural wonder. Limestone cliffs rise vertically out of the sea creating a surreal image fit for a mythological legend. High quality canoes are used to visit the tidal caves and washouts called “Hongs” (Thai for Room), which are part of the incredible limestone karst formations. After a detailed briefing, the professional guides will paddle us through tidal sea caves literally inside Phang Nga Bay’s marine limestone karstic islands. The hidden cliff-lined lagoons are populated with macaques, water monitors, kingfishers, mudskippers, egrets, Sea Eagles and Brahminy Kites. Besides exploring the area by canoe, we also have the opportunity to swim, relax, or even make a Loy Krathong; a decorative float that the Thai people set sail on streams and rivers during the Loi Krathong festival. Most day tour guests have returned to Phuket by now; enjoy the sunset views along the bay and more serene atmosphere while kayaking in quiet surroundings. We can launch our own hand-made Krathong under a moonlit, starry night and be amazed by the bioluminescent plankton. En-route back to Phuket, we will be entertained by “Star Games” on the starlight deck. A buffet lunch and dinner will be served onboard. We will arrive at the pier two hours after sunset.

Day 4

Friday

Breakfast is at the resort. Early morning visit to one of Phuket’s main attractions, the “Big Buddha”. This imposing ~150 feet high structure offers a fascinating view of the Chalong Bay and the south of Phuket. We then proceed to Wat Chalong, Phuket’s most revered monastery and learn more about the local Buddhist philosophy. Enjoy a Thai cooking class at the JW Cooking School and savor the fruits of your labor for dinner.

Day 5

Saturday

Breakfast is at the resort. Bordering the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary offers a new home for retired working elephants who have suffered from working long hours in the logging and tourism industry. As the first ethical elephant tourism experience in Phuket, they rescue sick, injured and old elephants, welcoming them back into their indigenous habitat. At the sanctuary elephants can just be elephants. Feed them pineapples and bananas, and observe these gentle giants as they enjoy their newfound freedom, socialize with each other and bathe freely in the expansive fresh water lagoons, set on 30 acres of lush tropical jungle. Observe how elephants rehabilitate into forest life after decades of abuse, and experience how incredible the largest land mammal on earth is during a day at the sanctuary. Our visit leaves us inspired, transformed and in awe of these majestic animals. Enjoy a vegetarian Thai buffet lunch after the tour.

Day 6

Sunday

Breakfast is at the resort. Morning is at your leisure. Relax by the pool or checkout the turtles at the Turtle Rescue center on resort property. We head Phuket Old Town to explore the vibrant night market on Thalang Road and enjoy a night food tour at the Weekend Night Market.
